I feel a little like a plastic surgeon today. The white around Winslow's backside is where I needed to do a little nip and tuck.

Even though I was extremely tired today, I got a fare amount of painting done. I went for a run at lunch time, and then Corrine's spinning class this evening. Now I'm ready for bed.

So today I had Chinese food for lunch while painting at the Short Term Gallery. Of course it came with fortune cookies. So here were my two fortunes, you see there were two in one cookie.

"Focus on the color purple this week to bring you luck."

Very appropriate eh?

"An enjoyable vacation is awaiting you near the mountains."

I live near the mountains and most days it is like a vacation here. A hectic vacation, but a vacation non the less.

Work progress on little Winslow. I was thinking about yesterdays post, and my comment of doing something more NY. I think this painting captures some of what I was doing while in NY and the chair figures more into what I've been doing in OR.

It's not a good thing or a bad thing, it's just what's happening in my work. Back in NY, I doubt I would have thought to include the chair, here in OR, I struggled to leave any of the background out. I think because I've been painting so many environmental portraits in the past few years, it's how I'm seeing the world. I also love the feel of Don's studio where the picture was taken.

Winslow is so much more than Don's studio companion and to paint him set in the studio leaves out part of the story. Painting him with only the chair makes the viewer wonder more about Winslow the dog than Winslow the studio dog. Plus, people will wonder "What is that chair doing in this painting?"

This is my friend Don Gray's dog Winslow. Click his name to see Don's painting of him.

I stopped by to see Don a few weeks back with the sole purpose to photograph Winslow for a new painting. I told Don I wanted to do something more NY than what I have been doing, so this is the start.

The title is due to the fact that there is a chair in the background, and I think Winslow has the kind of energy it would take to tame a lion.

Truck-o-Puppies final...

"Truck-O-Puppies"
7x5 acrylic on canvas
$125.00 unframed plus $5 for shipping in the US
SOLD

The puppies are ready for adoption. We re-opened the Short Term Gallery on Friday, to rave reviews and so today I spent the day painting there. Sunday's have low numbers of lookers and today was no different. However, someone who had been to the First Friday Opening came back and purchased 3 photos by Cameron Nelson. Yeah, that's what we artists like.

I'm heading out to take Zephyr for a nice long walk before heading off to see "Up in the Air" at the Eltrym.

Hello again...

Hello again, and here's a little progress. I spent most of today working on ads for Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort, my paycheck job. So, instead of coming home and heading out to Corrine's spinning class I chose to paint. It's been almost three weeks since my last posting, and that long since I painted too.

It felt so good to sit with the dogs in this painting, as well as my real dogs in the studio, for a couple of hours tonight. If I'm not to burned out after the web design stuff I have to do tomorrow, as well as repairing two bikes for a donation that need to be ready by Thursday, I might get some more done tomorrow.

Thanks for staying tuned while I work out my creativity/time issues.
