Acrylic Longing
"Longing to be Out There"
12x6 acrylic on canvas
$200 plus $6 for shipping in the US
Email:dogbri@q.com to purchase
Here's the acrylic version of this painting. Earlier today as I was working on the trees out the window I was frustrated with my lack of progress. Then when I took a break to make dinner, almond sesame dressing over stir fried vegetables and rice. It didn't look so bad when I came back to it.
It's fun for me to do both types of paintings, coffee hound version and then acrylic. One is more freeing and the other offers creative options the other lacks.

Longing for Coffee
"Longing for Coffee"
9x6 coffee and ink on paper
$25 unframed $5 for shipping in the US
Email:dogbri@q.com to purchase
Once again I painted for the folks at a retirement facility today. This is the first of two paintings I created while there. Again I started this same image as an acrylic painting too.
I'll post that one tomorrow.
What I love about this image is the dogs reflection in the window. I wonder if he sees the longing in the eyes of his reflected self?

Tini Tile
"Tini Tile"
4 1/2"x4 1/4" glaze on ceramic stoneware
$15 plus $5 for shipping in the US
Email:dogbri@q.com to purchase
This is the first and possibly only painting I'll ever get done of our dog Bettini that was created in real time while she was sleeping. Very rarely am I able to capture her likeness before she shifts position. It was done using low fire under glaze that was brushed on. Glaze does not work like paint. Much more difficult to get smooth brush strokes, because it dries almost instantly.
I really love working with my wife on things like this. I'll post more of these tiles we did together in the coming days and weeks.

Buddy with the Red Ball final
Me Skippi Coffee? Never!
"Me Skippi Coffee? Never!"
6x9 coffee and ink on paper
$25 unframed plus $5 for shipping in the US
SOLD
Skippi the schipperke is featured here in this coffee hound. I just love the look on her little face. She has that look that all dogs get, when they're asked to pose for a picture. "If I do this you promise there'll be treats, right?"
I'm so glad to have gotten to do some coffee paintings these past few days. They are such a nice creative release for me.

9x6 coffee and ink on paper
$25 unframed plus $5 for shipping in the US

I spent this afternoon at an assisted living facility here in Baker painting for the residents. It was fun, plus I got one painting finished and one started. This is the coffee hound version and in a couple of days I'll post the acrylic version I did from the same photo.
I'll be interested in hearing peoples views on the two.

Buddy w/the Red Ball continued
"Buddy with the Red Ball"
(in progress)
6x6 acrylic on canvas
SOLD
Now is the time of year when I start ramping up my training for bike racing and triathlon season. So sometimes I don't get as much painting done as I'd like. I'm really happy with the work I did this morning.
Tomorrow there probably won't be a posting because we're celebrating Oregon's birthday by doing some performances based on the history of Baker County. I play William Packwood and my wife plays Joanna O'Brien Packwood. Should be fun.

Buddy with the Red Ball
"Buddy with the Red Ball"
(in progress)
6x6 acrylic on canvas
SOLD
I just started this late today and would have gotten further if I had used a larger brush. For whatever reason I just wanted to stick with my #5 and take my time though.
I love how playful Buddy looks and the energy and enthusiasm in his expression.
The other work I did today involved ceramic tiles. My wife and I are creating a bunch of new work together. She's loading the kiln right now. The results will be posted after we do the final glaze firing so stay tuned.

Greyhound 01
"Greyhound 01"
7x5 acrylic on canvas
$125 plus $10 for shipping in the US
Here's the final version of this painting. I think the reason this one took so long to finish was the size. I know that might seem odd, but I've been working on larger paintings lately and there's all these little details in the face of this great dog. I kept re-working it until I was happy. The front paws continue on to the lower part of the canvas. Sorry I can't show that in the scan.
This painting will be available for purchase in person at the Greyhound Pets Parade of Greys on Feb 21st in Tampa, FL.

This is a dog that is available for adoption from Greyhound Pets in Tampa Bay, FL.
When this painting is finished it will be part of their Feb. 21st fund raiser.
I need to make slight adjustments all around to the body and limbs. I started late in the day on this painting, and so will need to make these changes tomorrow.

Finally a new coffee hound. This is our dog Zephyr sleeping in his brown bed. I had done a bunch of white on white paintings a week or so ago, and wanted to do a brown on brown painting. There's another photo I have like this one, that I'm planning to do an acrylic painting of. Wait and see.

Bellina in Clover
"Bellina in Clover"
(in progress)
5x7 acrylic on canvas
$125 plus $10 for shipping in the US
SOLD
I love the way this turned out. Black dogs are always a creative challenge, because I hate to just use blues and grays to define their fur. In this case I added some pink to the highlights. I think it's a great compliment to the other colors used.

Bellina in Clover 3
"Bellina in Clover"
(in progress)
5x7 acrylic on canvas
$150.00 plus $10 for shipping in the US
SOLD
Bellina is coming along great. I should be done tomorrow if I'm not distracted to much.
The only thing I don't like about this painting is how's she floating. I haven't gotten to the lower half of her body yet so her chest is just fading away into the clover. I may fix that tomorrow morning before I add the twinkle in her left eye.
The thing I like the most right now is her nose. It looks wet and she seems ready with a kiss. When I get asked my favorite type of dog to paint. I always say "One's with wet noses that give kisses."
